Good to Know

Policies & Privacy

Clear expectations make for a lovely afternoon. Here is how we care for your reservation, your celebration and your information.

Reservations

Reservations are requested online and confirmed by email within one business day. Your table is held once you receive that confirmation.

Tables are held for fifteen minutes past your seating time. After that we may release the table to guests who are waiting.

Each seating is two hours. Parties of eleven or more are arranged as a private event so the room can be set properly.

Changes and cancellations

Please give at least 48 hours of notice to change or cancel a reservation so we can offer the table to another guest.

Same-day cancellations and no-shows may be charged a fee of $20 per guest, which is waived once for first-time guests.

If your party size shrinks, tell us as soon as you know. Tiers are prepared to order and cannot be adjusted on arrival.

Dietary needs and allergies

Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-friendly, dairy-free and nut-free tiers are prepared with at least 48 hours of notice.

Our kitchen handles nuts, dairy, gluten and eggs. We take great care, but we cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment.

Private events

Submitting an event inquiry does not hold your date. Dates are reserved once the signed agreement and deposit are complete.

A deposit of 25 percent of the estimated total is due at signing and is applied to your final invoice.

Final guest counts, menu selections and enhancements are due fourteen days before the event. The final invoice is due on the event date.

Deposits are non-refundable within thirty days of the event but may be applied once to a rescheduled date within six months, subject to availability.

Classes

Class seats are confirmed by email and payment is arranged with our team before the class date.

Class registrations may be transferred to another person or to a future class with seven days of notice.

If we cancel a class for any reason, you will be offered a full refund or a seat in the next session.

Student field trips

Field trips are quoted per student with one complimentary chaperone for every ten students.

Schools and organizations are invoiced directly. Deposits are required only for groups of more than forty students.

Please confirm allergies, accessibility needs and final counts at least seven days before your visit.

In the tea room

Attire is smart casual to Sunday best. Hats and gloves are always welcome.

Outside food and beverage are not permitted, with the exception of a celebration cake arranged in advance.

Children are cherished guests and are asked to remain seated with their party out of care for our china and other guests.

Service animals are welcome. Other animals are not permitted in the dining room.

Photography

Personal photography is welcome and encouraged. Professional sessions with lighting or wardrobe changes require advance arrangement.

We occasionally photograph the room for our website and social media. Tell your host if you prefer not to appear, and we will honor that.

Accessibility

The entrance, dining room and restroom are street level and accessible.

Tell us about mobility, sensory or dietary accommodations when you book so the room is ready for you on arrival.

Your privacy

We collect only the information you enter on our forms: your name, contact details and the details of your visit, event, class or field trip.

That information is used to answer you, prepare your visit and keep our records. We do not sell it or share it for advertising.

Newsletter emails are used only for our own mailings, and every message includes a way to unsubscribe.

To review, correct or delete the information we hold about you, write to Hello@TheVelvetTeaCup.com and we will act within thirty days.

Questions about any of the above? Write to Hello@TheVelvetTeaCup.com or use our contact form.
